Mr. Daryl is very experienced in teaching guitar. He is very cool but teaching in a fun way. I enjoy a lot and learn different techniques and skills in every lesson. I’m a beginner when I first joined Shimobe but I could play many songs now after learning 6 months with him. Best Guitar class in JB

I had two American guitar teachers before Daryl. The two American teacher were both good, but I didn’t enjoy their classes. Daryl is a great teacher, he helps me to dig out the the music sense from my body. He teaches me how to feel the music

Frequently Ask Questions
May I know how much the fee is? Is it expensive?
Our fees are quite reasonable compared to the market rate of RM150 - RM180 per month for four classes. Due to various deductions included within the membership, our fee is actually lower than the standard market rate. We strive to make quality guitar education accessible to everyone!
How do you manage teaching students of different levels in the same group?
This is actually one of our secret weapons! 😄 Having students of varying levels in the same group is incredibly beneficial. Students can learn from one another, be inspired by more advanced players, and find motivation to improve. It creates a dynamic and supportive environment that fosters growth and development naturally!
How many student do you have in a class usually?
Averagely 5 - 9 students, Every week is different, If there's any long holiday around the corner, sometimes there will only be 1 single student 😅
Why do you teach in a group setting instead of one-to-one?
After more than 15 years of one-on-one teaching, I realized that both the teacher and students often feel bored or stuck in a routine. In a group setting, however, students can discuss, collaborate, duet, perform, and even learn from each other’s diverse styles and projects. They also get to meet passionate individuals who put in lots of practice, including incredible singers and skilled musicians! While one-to-one classes offer focus and attention, we believe that group settings teach students to be independent, perform confidently, ask questions, work with other musicians, and develop their listening skills—all crucial elements of becoming a well-rounded guitarist.
I’ve never heard of this kind of class setting before. How long have you been teaching this way, and is it effective?
We’ve been teaching in this environmental style for over 7 years now, and the results have been remarkable. Our students gain confidence in performance, develop independent practice habits, and feel naturally motivated to improve without us having to push them. Many students even go for exams on their own initiative because the environment itself is inspiring and encouraging.
My time schedule is usually full, what if I can't attend one of the class I choose on Monday?
All of our time are open slots, you can attend the Tuesday class instead, You can attend any of the slot from the timetable given. The membership you choose will decide how many times you are able to attend the class per week. Our time are quite flexible, so no more excuses 😎
Sounds interesting! How can I find out more?
We’d love to share more details with you! Since it’s hard to explain everything over the phone or text, we encourage you to visit our school in person. You can book an appointment with our admin, and we’ll give you a tour while chatting about how our classes work. It’ll be a great chance to experience the atmosphere firsthand! 😄
I don’t have a guitar yet—should I buy one before joining?
No rush! We actually recommend meeting with our principal first before making a purchase. It’s important to get advice from someone experienced to ensure you make the right choice. We’re here to guide you through that decision!
Is Mr. Daryl the only teacher?
Our school is growing, and we now have several teachers who are personally trained by Mr. Daryl to ensure consistent quality in every class. Whether you’re learning from Mr. Daryl or one of our other dedicated teachers, you’ll receive the same high-quality education. If you ever feel otherwise, just let Mr. Daryl know! 😆
I’m a complete beginner. Can I still join a class? I feel a bit nervous!
Absolutely! Don’t worry at all—everyone starts somewhere, and we make sure beginners feel comfortable and supported. You won’t be alone; many other students are at the same level as you. Plus, our community is extremely friendly and welcoming. You’ll have plenty of encouragement and guidance along the way!
I think I still prefer one-to-one private lessons. Do you offer them?
We’ve actually stopped offering private lessons for about 7 years now! 😄 I’ve chosen to focus on creating a more engaging and dynamic group experience that’s not only fun but also incredibly effective. Private lessons might offer focus, but our group classes give students much more than that—skills, independence, and exposure to great musicians. If private classes are what you’re after, I’m afraid we might not be the right fit.
When are the classes held? Is there a schedule?
Yes, we have a detailed timetable just above this FAQ section! Please take a look, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions about it.
What if I still have more questions?
That’s totally okay! Why not drop by the school for a cup of tea and a friendly chat? I’d be more than happy to answer all your questions personally. At the end of the day, my only goal is to help you become a great guitar player—that’s my ultimate mission! 😄. +60177725749 - Schedule Your appointment with my Admin today, See you soon!
